Under the Stars 2016 is a one-day event celebrating SMU School of Economics' 14th birthday. The event will be from 3pm to 11pm and be held in SMU's very own U-Square (opposite Singapore Art Museum/beside Bras Basah MRT). The celebration will have a carnival-themed day programs including game booths, food, lucky draws and stage games. This will be followed at night by a pageant competition showcasing 8 pageant contestants from the freshmen of School of Economics as well as talented music performances by bands and student groups from SMU.
Apart from celebrating the School of Economics' 14th birthday, we aim to bring down members from all over the University - faculty, alumni and current students - and provide a unique experience of fun and bonding. We also aim to provide a platform to showcase and celebrate talent in SMU.
Under the Stars 2016 is under SMU Economics Society, otherwise known as OIKOS, which has direct access via emailers, social media and word of mouth to 1000 Economics undergraduates as well as Economics alumni and faculty staff. Being one of SMU's biggest societies, OIKOS has reach to other students from SMU including those from the School of Business, Accountancy, Law, Information Systems and Social Sciences. Furthermore, the event will be held at the center of the University, which is also a prime location in the city area to ensure that Sponsors' brands will be visible to the general public as well as participants.
